Alona Advisory Team - Thalita Boikhutso

Thalita Boikhutso

Managing Director

BA Soc Sc. (Wits), MA Soc Sc. (Wits), Advanced Risk Management (UCT)

Thalita Boikhutso is the co-founder and Managing Director of Alona Advisory Services, bringing over 20 years of advisory and executive leadership experience to organisations navigating strategic, operational, and governance complexity. Her advisory expertise spans strategy and business optimisation, turnaround and performance improvement, governance, risk and compliance, and organisational and people transformation, delivered across financial services, mining, FMCG, oil & gas, and public sector environments. Her advisory work is grounded in a consistent proposition: that strategy, culture, and governance are not separate disciplines but a single system, and that value lies in managing all three together, particularly in sectors where regulatory and operational stakes are high.In addition to her advisory work, Thalita has over 20 years of board experience across listed and unlisted companies, where she has chaired and served on sub-committees spanning Strategy and Operations, Social and Ethics, Nominations, and Human Resources and Remuneration. This first-hand governance experience, gained sitting on both sides of the boardroom table, gives her advisory work a practical edge: she advises executives and boards with the fluency of someone who has carried the same fiduciary and oversight responsibilities herself, in corporate governance, risk management, stakeholder engagement, financial reporting, and performance monitoring.Thalita is a recognised voice in leadership development. In 2007, she pioneered the Annual International Leadership Conference on “Legacy Leadership” in partnership with the University of Johannesburg, whose inaugural edition, “The 360-Degree Leader,” featured global leadership authority Dr John C. Maxwell. She was subsequently profiled in Dr Maxwell’s book, Put Your Dream to the Test: 10 Questions That Will Help You See It and Seize It, alongside other global leaders. She has been invited by academic institutions, including her alma mater, the University of the Witwatersrand, and the Gordon Institute of Business Science, to present on change management, and performance and productivity management.Thalita holds a BA and MA in Social Science from the University of the Witwatersrand and completed an Advanced Risk Management course at the University of Cape Town. How We Work

What working with us actually looks like.
Alona Advisory Story: Built by Experts for Impact
01

Led before we advised.

Every member of our team has operated at a senior level inside complex organisations. We don’t theorise, we advise from lived experience.

02

Integrated by design.

Our practice areas share methodology, perspective, and people. The result is advice that sees the whole organisation, not just the part you asked about.

03

Small enough to care.

As a boutique firm, every client relationship is a principal relationship. You work with the people whose names are on the door, not a team assembled for the pitch.

Bringing deep institutional knowledge directly to your leadership team.

Our Foundation

Want to understand what brought us together?

Our story is the context behind everything we do and how we came to build a different kind of advisory practice.
